Pikes Peak State Park Wedding - The Matlocks
Pikes Peak State Park in McGregor, Iowa makes for a simple yet stunning ceremony location. It's one of my favorite local parks and I was super excited when Mercedes and Laine reached out to me about capturing their day there.
We started the wedding day by meeting at their Air BnB, The Wood Duck Inn, just outside of Prairie du Chien. It was private, pretty, and perfect for them and their three fur babes to hangout in before and after the wedding.
M+L got ready together, which I absolutely loved. There were many untraditional aspects of their day, but this was by far my favorite. The vibes were intimate and fun, complete with a custom playlist for the occasion. They helped each other get ready and finalize finishing touches before sharing private vows.
The Wood Duck Inn's backyard provided a quiet space for them to share their vows before the ceremony.
Before heading over to Pikes Peak, of course we had to snag some photos with their babies!
Their ceremony was held on the smaller of the two lookout points at Pikes Peak. It was a peaceful weekday evening, so there were few tourists and the fall leaves were vibrant.
Next up was some family portraits. Then, the Matlocks took some time for themselves to relax and enjoy the park's incredible views.
The night ended with a relaxed dinner and celebration of the newlyweds in the Pikes Peak shelter house where they enjoyed pie, a loaded baked potato bar, wine, and their favorite company.
