Jayna, Ryan and I met at Sunrise in Boone County, Iowa, to take advantage of the beauty within Ledges State Park. The early rise was worth it as we got to experience the warm sun just peaking over the horizon, washing over the miles of fields, flowers, streams, bluffs, and more.
We began toward the beginning of the park in an open grassy area with the perfect backdrop of overhead trees.
Jayna and Ryan also wanted to include their fur baby in their engagement photos. Of course I'm always happy to include a dog in our shoto session, and Ryan's mom was able to bring Bella along for some shots.
Then we ventured through a grassy field and also stumbled across an old bridge and staircase that looked straight out of a romance movie.
Lastly, we made our way through toward the opposite edge of the park. Here streams run along the bluff and through the park. At this time we also brought Jayna's one request to life - a piggy back ride (after my top two favorite prompts: slow dancing and blowing raspberries on the neck). Although a seemingly easy (and sometimes cheesy) pose, executed correctly can make for unique, amusing, and emotive images. The key: tell the piggy back ride giver to give the bumpiest ride they can manage! As you can tell from Jayna's expression, Ryan succeeded at this task.
Ledges turned out to be the perfect engagement session location for this fun, nature loving couple, and was the perfect way to kick off our time together before the wedding.
